At the end of May, the Cambridges clued up on their bingo lingo as they turned bingo callers during a video call to residents of a care home in Cardiff.
Equipped with their own bingo spinner, which Kate was in charge of, the royal couple were in fits of giggles while taking it in turns to hold up the balls to the screen and call out the numbers.
“Catherine is going to pick out the first ball,” William said to them. Kate placed the first ball to the screen and announced: “So, the first number is five and eight, 58.”
The Duke then picked out the next one. Holding the ball to the screen, he called: “One little duck, number two.” Kate called out the next two: “Eight and seven, 87. Six and two, tickety-boo.”
It must be said that they both could perhaps brush up on their bingo calls some more though. Rather cheekily, when William asked the winner – Joan – how he and Kate had done as hosts, she said “very good,” before adding: “wasn’t as good as it should have been.”
This prompted more laughter from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. William promised, before the pair said their goodbyes: “We’ll try and do a bit better at bingo next time.”
The lucky winner shared cake and wine with fellow residents.
